This project was one of my first explorations into packaging design. The design problem was to create a packaging line of 5 or more individual pieces. I chose candle packaging because I have a passion for decorating and designing things that bring natural elements into the home in an elegant and comforting way. I started this project with designing a logo for the candle brand, Copper Grove. I illustrated an oak tree for the logo image and chose IvyMode for the logo typeface. All additional type is in the Lato typeface. Each candle has a handmade canvas box, a slip cover label, a candle sticker label, copper logo charm, and matchbook. Each slip cover label shows the candle scent and a description of the aroma and experience the candle will create. The candle itself has a linen paper sticker with a handmade icon painted with glue and then covered in copper leaf. A piece of twine is around the candle with a hand cut copper tree logo. The charm could be kept by the customer, even after the candle is burnt, to be used as a necklace, charm, or any decorative piece. I wanted the collection to incorporate calming, natural colors with elements of copper and twine to create a multi-sensory experience for the consumer.
